About Me    Greetings!  My name is David D. Taylor a father of three, David II, Kaitlyn and Lauren and a native son of Upshur County.  I, like you, want my family to be safe.  I am already your neighbor and I want to be your next Sheriff right here in Upshur County.  I am fully invested in keeping our community safe and informed, a community where my family has lived for decades.  In addition to volunteering my time for many community organizations, one of which includes the Upshur County Fair Association, I have worked with our community leaders on several community projects including founding the first Buckhannon-Upshur Citizens Leadership Institute of Governmental Affairs program and the first Upshur County Citizens Firefighters Academy.    Over the course of this campaign, I want to listen and chat with you to learn what you expect from your sheriff's office.  Half of the job of being a great sheriff is listening to the people they serve.    I seek office as the candidate who will lead the sheriff's office into a new direction thus permitting the men and women to seek professional heights never before thought possible.  As sheriff, I will keep you informed of how your tax dollars are spent with complete transparency.    I am fully committed to work within the budget as approved by the Upshur County Commission and I will be a first-rate steward of your tax dollars and not frivolous in spending.    I will not balance the sheriff's office budget on the back of the taxpayer by having deputies write excessive traffic citations.    I invite you to look through my web site to learn more about me and how I will make the Upshur County Sheriff's Office the premier Sheriff's office in the State of West Virginia.  I trust that you will find all of the information posted there helpful.  In the days, weeks, and months ahead, I will be presenting additional information on my web site that gives you the opportunity to learn more about me and why I am the most qualified candidate to be the next Upshur County Sheriff.    I commit to you that I will maintain "an open door policy" and be receptive to you.  I will implement programs where I will regularly make your deputies and myself available to the various communities throughout the county to discuss community concerns.  As your sheriff, I will establish and maintain a professional working relationship with all elected officials (local, state and federal) and citizens alike, not only in Upshur County, but also throughout the great state that I am proud to call home.    I commit to you that I will instill proficiency in your sheriff's office and will work hard every day to ensure that your sheriff's Office employees are held to high professional and ethical standards.    Respectfully, I appreciate your vote of confidence on May 08, 2012.  I will be truly honored to serve as your next Upshur County Sheriff.
